Given that Eli hadn't commented on his fangs or his eyes even after Astarion had turned back into humanoid form, he could only assume it was another thing that Thrawn had neglected to inform him of. He supposed the coolness of his skin read as more unnatural than his teeth and the eyes.
He would have thought that Thrawn would hand over the book, at least.
Even if it did paint vampires in a bad light and would likely make Eli wary of him and not relatively at ease as he was now.
He pulled his hand back then, still looking quite relaxed and casual.
