Hearing Thrass speaking in basic was interesting. Though it was still new to him, he was obviously a quick study, able to keep up with their conversation, and even speak it a little himself. Altair thought he could hear something of a teasing tone in there, but he couldn't be sure if that was just a quirk of the unfamiliar language making him sound different, or if it was actually there.

Altair had certainly come to admire Thrawn. He respected him. And ever so slowly, they'd become friends too.
