A Meeting of Aliens

The whole Thanos thing had shook the world. Sure, Earth was used to super powered threats by now, be they men in power armor, supernatural beings come to destroy or enslave humanity, or entire cities destroyed because a sentient robot interpreted his programming in a certain way. But Thanos had come very close to destroying half the population of the entire universe, thanks to the Infinity Stones.

Eddie and Venom hadn't known about it at the time, or else they might have caught the first fight to Wakanda's nearest neighboring city. Thankfully, they hadn't needed to. Thor's brother, the infamous Loki, had shown up, after seemingly having been killed, according to the God of Thunder. Loki's trickery and magic had helped turn the tide, so the Avengers had been able to save the world once more. The details of the battle were still vague, since most of the Avengers didn't feel like talking about it, but Thanos was gone.

That brought Eddie to where he was right now. In a lounge room, notebook in hand and his phone set to record, prepared to interview the one man who was willing to talk. Venom had agreed to stay quiet for now, as they always did when Eddie had to do an interview.

"So, let's get started," Eddie pushes the record button on his phone, before getting his pen ready. "You faked your death, is that correct?"

Eddie put his plate down to lean in and get a closer look at the flower, while Venom did the same. Both of them stared at it with awe, admiring its beauty. "That is so cool," Eddie whispered.

"Lovely."

Loki let the two of them inspect the flower before he carefully sat it on the table before them, out of the way of the food. "I would like you to have it. As something to remind you both of me."

He smiled at them softly before he turned back to eat just a bit more. It wasn't much longer before the knock came for the dessert and he got up to retrieve it. A few moments later he walked in with a box, carefully moving things on the table before setting the box down and opening it.

The dessert inside was beautiful. A tiered chocolate cake with several pieces to it that almost resembled a floating chess board.

"We're touched," When Eddie had agreed to interview the infamous Loki, neither he nor Venom had expected such kindness, or to be given a lovely keepsake. To look upon the flower was to be reminded of that kindness and warmth, and they would think of Loki whenever they looked upon it.

They finished the last few scraps of food by the time the doorbell rang again. Venom ducked down again, then came back out to marvel at the dessert. Venom looked like he wanted to eat it right then and there, licking his teeth and lips.

"When you treat someone, you really go all out, don't you?"

"I don't believe in being cheap when treating a guest. Especially not one who has been so...understanding and open as you two have been with me." He said softly, retrieving more plates and serving each of them.

"I only hope that this isn't the only time I can treat you both." He teased, smiling warmly before moving back to sit on the couch beside them.

There was something nice about just the small gesture of Loki serving them both their own plates. Because it meant that Loki saw them as their own beings and Venom was worth paying attention to.

"We will repay you in kind by eating the head of whomever says anything bad about you."

"Uh, I don't think so." Eddie smiled shyly at Loki, before he started on on his cake.

"You certainly don't have to do that, though I appreciate the gesture, Venom." He said with a wry smile and a chuckle, taking a bite of the dessert and groaning at how good it was.

"Hmmm, it will look suspicious if everyone who says something bad about me starts ending up headless." He continued teasing, looking at Eddie before winking.

"I prefer to find...other ways to dissuade them from their mudslinging ways. Usually in the form of some illusion that sends them screaming in terror with no way to prove it to anyone else."

"We've done that too, sometimes."

"By which he means we've scared people by having Venom come out just enough to get scary and make them wonder what the fuck they just saw," Eddie took another bite of cake, savoring it. Venom took a bite of his own piece, giving a pleased little growl as he tasted it.

"Got the neighbor to turn down his music, anyway."

"Oh that must have been interesting. Since my time here I've done it once. I can cast illusions that focus on only one person so others around them cannot see." He said absently, smirking a bit. "A New York reporter, actually." He waved a hand, giving the name of a reporter Eddie had met certainly, though he didn't know that himself.

"He was practically stalking me. Obsessed with trying to get an interview with me, but unlike you he didn't want to try to understand. He made it very clear that he still considered me to be a monster. He didn't care about the truth. He cared about sensationalism." He shrugged, taking another bite before smirking.

"In the middle of a very important meeting with his boss, he just so happened to have a nervous breakdown. I read all about it." He raised an eyebrow. "One minute he'd been fine and the next he was screaming that monsters were coming after him. Even his own boss had apparently become one. Tragic really."

Eddie smirked. "I know who you're talking about. The guy's an asshole." It didn't surprise Eddie that he'd been pushy and arrogant with Loki, just assuming he was a bad guy. "Glad to hear he got what he deserved."

"You we like."

Venom had already finished his piece of cake and was licking the plate clean.

"Oh he did. His credibility is...well, nonexistent now. Everyone thinks he went off the deep end and certainly he'll never work again because of it. He even went so far as to try and blame me, but I was on the other side of the city with witnesses." He raised an eyebrow slowly before laughing.

Then he looked at Venom, blushing ever so slightly. "Well, I like the both of you as well."

"We're all in favor of you ruining dirtbags like that," Eddie replied, eyeing one of the decorative chocolate pieces on his cake slice and taking a bite out of it. "Good to know he can't possibly ruin anyone's life again."

"We find you interesting. You are not of this world, just as I am, you've seen hardships, as we have, and we rather like your sense of humor. Were I not content with Eddie's body, I would bond with you and hope we were compatible."

"Coming from him, that's a hell of a compliment, trust me." Eddie knew that Venom wasn't trying to make him jealous. The symbiote just had a weird way of paying others compliments sometimes.

"Well, point me in the direction of any others who might give you problems in the future. We'll see how long they fair." He teased, smiling and winking before looking surprised.

"Oh. Well..while I am honored that you would wish to, I must admit I'm glad you are content. I don't know that I would enjoy sharing my body with one so intimately." He said quietly, brushing his fingers through his hair. "Or..maybe not so much my body. More my mind. After Thanos and the Other..."

"We get you. Being bonded to Venom is a kind of intimacy that takes some getting used to. It's like... there's no secrets between us. It was kinda freaky at first, admittedly, but I find there's a weird comfort in the mental part of our bond." Eddie could certainly understand why another would hesitate to share their thoughts with another on such a deep level. Especially with what Loki went through.

"Having no secrets would not be the hard part." He said softly, shrugging a shoulder as he leaned back, trying to get more comfortable on the couch next to him.

"Thanos and the Other manipulated me and tortured me over and over mentally. Sometimes making me think that my torturer was Thor or my mother, Frigga. It has made me..." He hesitated. "Uneasy. To be close to anyone, really. This is the first time I've felt comfortable letting someone so close."

The more Loki spoke of Thanos, the more they hated him and wished they could bring him back to life just to bite his head off and kill him again. To hear Loki describe it, it would be as if someone used Eddie and Venom's mental bond against each other.

"Well then, thanks for giving us a chance and letting us get close to you."

"We think you'll find we can be good friends."

"And I feel that I will cherish our friendship together." He said, reaching out once more to touch Venom, letting his fingers brush across him. It was still a shock to him, to touch and yet to not feel any sort of revulsion towards the creature. Many would certainly have called him a parasite, a lowly and debased creature who didn't deserve to live, but that was not how Loki felt.

He spent a moment just caressing the symbiote before his hand moved to Eddie's shoulder. His smile was soft and fond as he squeezed, letting his touch linger. Then he pulled away, moving to clean up the food on the table.

Venom leaned into the touch, even nuzzling Loki's hand when it strayed close to his head. The symbiote usually didn't let others touch him, save for Eddie, but he trusted Loki enough by now to allow him to do so. The symbiote's essence quivered at the touch, growling softly, the sound almost coming across like he was purring.

When Loki's hand strayed to Eddie's shoulder, he looked down at his shoulder, a little surprised. Still, the touch wasn't unwelcome. He was a little disappointed when the hand withdrew.

"Here, let us help you with that." Eddie picked up his and Venom's plates.

[OOC: Sorry. Everything has been so hectic these last few weeks. Especially with the holiday!]

"Oh, you don't have to do that..." He started, though he stopped after a moment, instead just leading the way to the kitchen. He put the dishes in the sink, waving it off a bit.

"I will take care of them later." He said quietly, head tilting slightly to one side. "I truly have enjoyed this evening with the two of you. I want you to know that and I look forward to...hopefully many more like it."

Eddie leaned against the counter, regarding Loki. "We've enjoyed ourselves too, and we sure as hell won't say no if you ever wanna hang out again."

"We enjoy your company."

"We can stream a movie, maybe go for a walk somewhere, or just hang out and talk some more."

"I have enjoyed both of your company as well." He looked at Eddie, obviously thinking about it for a moment before tilting his head. "Would you want to watch a movie now? I know it might be getting a bit late..."

He brushed his fingers back through his hair as he looked at them, motioning towards the living room. "You might have to show me how to stream? I know how to watch what is on the satellite, but beyond that I'm a bit lost."

"We'd like to stay and watch a movie. The article's not due until a week from now, I can work on it tomorrow." Eddie passed Loki, and went back into the living room. They sat back down on the couch, looking for the remote. "What do you feel like watching? Venom's not real picky about what we watch. Romance, comedy, action, historical drama?"

"Well, since being allowed to come here and stay at the compound, mostly I've been watching documentaries and things dealing with history, just to learn of how much has changed since I came here in my youth." He said, shrugging. "So please, nothing historical or documentary style. I would be please with anything besides that. So, Eddie, you pick." He walked to the couch again, settling in beside Eddie, sitting just a bit closer though he hoped not uncomfortably so.

"You got it," Eddie turned the TV on and switched it over to the app screen, choosing a streaming service. He figured they could use his account, and logged in. He browsed various movies in various genres, from horror to action, before choosing a romantic comedy from the 80s.

Venom rested in between them, leaning back against the couch to watch the movie.

Loki's head tilted as the movie started, curious about it obviously. The music was interesting, that much was for certain. After a few moments he looked at Venom, smiling warmly as his gaze swept to the man. He felt peaceful and like he might actually belong just a little bit for once.

Like he'd found friends that he felt he could actually trust. Beings who really seemed to want him around. It meant more to him than he thought Eddie or Venom would ever know.

Eddie glanced over at Loki, smiling at him before looking back at the movie. He looked nice when he smiled and seemed content. Loki was certainly handsome, but he could have anyone he wanted. He was a prince and a very powerful being, and Eddie was just some loser.

A loser bonded to me.

Aloud, Venom said to Loki, "The last movie we watched together was about a blob monster from space that eats people. I found the movie very inaccurate."
